With You I Dance
With you I dance
as I dance with no other
for in you I find myself
and finding myself, find you again.
And you and I
and I and thee
dance on in joy and astonishment,
so familiar; so new,
such a wondrous voyage of discovery.
We look into each other’s eyes
an endless row of mirrored images,
and clasp our hands in delight
and hold each other so tenderly, so strongly.
We sway to the music of love,
back and forth, and back again,
and again, and again, and again, and again.
Then, dawn finds us dancing on alone.
The waiters have cleared off the tables,
the musicians have packed up their instruments
and gone home.
Yet we dance on…
until, exhausted but undaunted
we collapse on the floor
panting and gasping
…and roaring with laughter
