Half Life
What worth our libraries
investigations, speculations
histories of treachery and greed?
All spots on a ballooning cosmos
rushing away from itself
to extinguish beyond the reaches
of sight, plunging into limbo
a whisper
a gesture
aspirin to cancer
Yet how exquisite the spider web
melting off a rock
how subtle the flutter of moths’ wings
vanishing in and out of
the setting sun
