The time has come the ballad said

to talk of many things

of priests and of prime ministers

of presidents and kings

 

All honest men, all stalwart folk

their piety we sing

(except for several we could quote

who did some naughty things)

 

There’s Yitzhak whose wife’s dollars

he forgot in the USA

and Ezra who embezzled

a few millions they say

 

There’s Arik’s Greek island

there’s Ehud’s envelopes

but best of all was Moshe

who raised his helpers robes

 

So hail to all you holy men

you bible pounding folk

and praise the Lord that you weren’t made

a Rabbi or a Pope
