When it was over,
flags, monarchs,

fences, barricades, bombardments

rebellions, revolutions

 

we realized that

we never owned

anything at all

 

all those misshapen polygons

and untidy splashes of

color tagging

 

national anthems

flags

 

replaced with

rental contracts

maintenance clauses

brochures and refreshments

for guests and

passers by

 

Out there in the universe

silent for so many millenniums

there was a great sound

of cheering
