Event Horizon
It tok this crippled old man
right until the final days of his own horizon
sitting there in his wheelchair
grinning teeth and eyes at us
to discover something that we all
intuitively knew:
information doesn’t necessarily get lost
in a black hole
We knew it. In the background Alfred Brendel
is playing Mozart’s Alla Turka, Freddie Mercury is singing
Don’t Stop Me Now, and Richard Burton is quoting
Hamlet’s soliloquy “To Be or Not to Be”
So don’t lose heart friends as we approach our own Black Holes
Grab your pecils. your notebooks, compose your songs,
your symphonies, your soliloqies!
You’re not alone. Tomorrow exists in places that even Stephen
did not dare to dream of
Beyond the event horizon are crowds of children waiting
to read your words, listen to your music
