Something is wrong....

clues spoken in a foreign tongue

clutter the mind

crushed pages ripped from a notebook

compressed into frustrated balls

litter the floor

 

The dumb children sit quietly

in a huddle waiting

waiting for an explanation

despite the passage of the years

they remain children

remain bewildered

and wait for an explanation

that after so many attempts

so many languages

so much learning

degreees disciplines ologies

escapes definition

 

And so we stand before the class

unprepared

clad only in a flimsy pair of shorts

that keeps slipping off the hips

disclosing...

disclosing...what?

 

The children wait on silently

waiting so quietly

their eyes hide something

that needs to be explained
