Winter's Here

Trees shiver naked
clothe themselves with snow
bears sleep in caves
worms squirm deeper into graves
cats fight for the right
to be closest to the fire
desire wilts under downy quilts
and we freeze and sneeze
as overcoated, scarf throated
we puff breath clouds dense
which coalesce and then condense
on windows, spectacles and glass
as we wait to catch a bus
