Despite it All

Is there music only deaf can hear

impinging on some inner ear

an ode to joy or hammerklavier?

Or visions only the blind can see

white sticks drawing on memory

an asphalt tap on sidewalk near?

When grandma lost her sense of smell

she leafed through cookbooks loved so well

and in despair sipped tasteless beer

And you my page I love so much

I pray I never lose my touch

to feel you, kiss you, here and here

Cause you to blush, my sensory sonnet

your body with my fingerprints on it
