Can't Remember the Title

This head of mine, so empty

names of characters and places

once so familiar

have crept into crevices

or vanished into the sleeve of time

Like liquid

from a bottomless jug

poured out over years

torrential rains, waterfalls of words

to notebooks, arguments

harangues and wild beseeching

all gone now

point and punctuation

perfect bird-like bodies

full of chirp and lyric, libretto

withered, flown away

All that remains intact

some prayers I learned in Sunday School,

God save the Queen and several

tunes from My Fair Lady

that buzz around the emptiness

like hungry flies, singing

Enry Iggins - just you wait
